Traveling is fun but sometimes you might have to sit at an airport and wait for another flight for hours. Then it gets no fun very quickly. There are numerous things you can do when you have hours of free time while waiting for a plane. So what to do in an airport when you’re bored?
First of all, I would suggest finding some kind of accommodation somewhere near (if you would have to wait at night). Also, if you’re not too tired of traveling, you might want to escape the airport and explore the city you’re in. But if you are trying to save some money, there are some other things you can do.
Some people never get bored. I, on the other hand, get bored very easily. I always have to have something to do. If you are a person like me who loves to travel but doesn’t really like waiting with nothing to do, then here’s…
My suggestion of what to do in an airport when you’re bored:
Sleep if you can
I know it is often very uncomfortable to sleep in the airports but if you are a person who can fall asleep almost anywhere then sleeping is the easiest way to kill some time before your next flight. Even if you can’t sleep, you can relax and listen to some music with your headphones on and just turn yourself off from the world around you for a few minutes or hours.
Play board games or mind games
Even when you are traveling alone you can play some games when waiting without wasting a phone’s battery. There are some mind games in travel size that allow you to play alone. These usually need a lot of thinking which is good for killing the time faster.
Read a book
Whether it’s an e-book or a regular book, reading a book is a good way to make the waiting time go faster. It also helps you to dive into another world and forget about being in an airport and waiting for a plane.
Shop or walk around the airport stores
If you have checked your luggage already and don’t have a lot of things to carry with you, you could walk around the airport stores and stretch out your feet before the flight.
Eating reduces stress and also makes the waiting time go a little bit faster. If you’re full and don’t want to eat anything, you could also buy a drink and be occupied by drinking and people-watching.
If you like great puzzles you could take some crosswords or sudokus with you and solve those while you wait for your next flight. These will also keep your mind busy and maybe even forget about waiting in an airport.
Sit next to someone and ask about where they’re from. And talk about yourself as well so they wouldn’t think you’re a spy trying to get a lot of information about themselves and not giving them anything back
These are just some ideas of what to do when you’re in an airport and dying with boredom. Hope you got some ideas of what to do. If you have something to add, feel free to comment on what YOU like to do in an airport.
